Wood burning stoves have become a very popular and efficient method of heating a home and providing a very warm and comfortable focal point for any home. Whilst the aesthetic value of the wood burning stove internally can benefit the room enormously, the disguise of the stainless steel flue can often be problematical. Capvond Composites have for many years provided thousands of false chimneys to the building trade, but not all of them are false!
Manufactured in Class "1" fire retardant resin, and with a real clay chimney pot incorporated in the design, Capvonds wood burning stove chimneys have proved not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing, easy to fit and more importantly, cost effective. The main criteria for our wood burning stove chimneys, is that they are compatible with the wood burning stove system you are installing. Generally a standard clay chimney pot is used in the manufacture of the wood burning stove chimney, but any suitable pot available can be used. The flue system of the wood burning stove is fitted directly into the chimney pot, exactly the same way as it would in a standard chimney.
The exterior of the chimney stack and cope can be manufactured to suit and match the design of any existing chimneys, or if none, the design of the exterior of the house itself. Brick, render, dry and wet dash or even natural stone can all be used as the finish of the wood burning stove chimney.
The wood burning stove chimney is easy to fit, and most require only a standard roof design with solid fixing points below. Slates or tiles are removed in the area where the flue would exit the roof, and then replaced around the new chimney. The wood burning stove chimney system comes complete with a GRP Class "1" fire retardant gutter/fixing system all-round the base; a lead skirt is pre-fitted at the lowest point to complete the "plumbing system" around the chimney. No other work is required to fit and seal the roof once the chimney is in place and the slates or tiles refitted.
All this work can be completed by a joiner or roofer.
